7 ways to make your child feel special!

  1. Breakfast in Bed! Their favorite cartoons, their favorite breakfast, and some snuggles are a great way to kick off a Saturday morning!

  2. Game night! Surprise them with a bunch of snacks and they get to pick out their favorite games to play! Maybe a game they always ask to play but sometimes it’s too busy during the week so you have to say no. This game night is no rush and no stress - just plain family fun!

  3. Day date! A day for your and your child and/or children to pick up and go do whatever you want! Take them to their favorite park with a picnic, let them pick where you go for lunch, or surprise them with their favorite treat and a movie! Put thought into it and let them know you know what they like and what makes them feel special!

  4. Cook their favorite meal or treat! My son loves “Mommy’s Famous Chix Noodle Soup” especially when he is sick. The last time I made it, he gave me a huge hug and said, “oh Mommy I am so glad you made your soup.” My heart melted. It’s the simple things<3

  5. Hang their artwork and school work up on display in your home! I started this when Leo began Kindgertan and it is honestly one of my favorite things in our house. We talk about his school work and he can show the grandparents when they visit. It’s just a happy spot and a way for them to feel proud of all their hard work!

  6. Include, acknowledge and hang with their stuffed animals, imaginary friends, or babies that they love and bring along. My son loves his certain stuffed animals and asks to bring them here and there and you know your kids will just so appreciate you getting into their world. One day we will miss this magic and fun that our kids bring to our lives. Try not to take it too seriously and just adore their innocence<3

  7. An extra that kind of goes with the above is this and it may not apply to everyone but one thing on my list that I know I need to do here on a rainy day is, my son wants me to make clothes for some of his stuffed animals. I am not the best sewer- but I can definitely put together some cute little shirts for these stuffed animals and I just know this will light his heart up! What a super surprise if you craft up something sweet for one of their cherished toys!

Ahh, our children are oh so special and in a world where they can be exposed to so much - try to soak up and indulge their little innocent adorable cuteness and ideas! I love the magic and adventures children bring - when you open up to being a kid again and really get into their world, join them in their play - you will see a different side of them and warm their hearts! In a world that is so go, go, go and has so many distractions the real luxury we have is time with our kids and time to just be - no rush, - no stress, and no distractions.

I hope you and your child/children are able to connect and just be together. It doesn’t take a lot - it can be free. Just simply playing with legos, or coloring that one on one quality time I believe is invaluable! I have to know - what is your favorite game to play with your child/children?! Comment below! Our recent favorite has been this Builder-opoly Monolopy for kids- if you gave a construction lover in your life this game is so cute! Have some fun my friends and hug them, babies!
