Book Rally
NICE IS JUST A PLACE IN FRANCE
So the hype was huge on social media promoting the book: "Nice is Just a Place in France" and behind all those insta pics of girls cozied up reading this book - I just have to wonder after that initial post of finally getting the book and wanting to read it what they really thought. Because I was very disappointed after I received the "book" in the mail and started reading it.
SO: I got to about page 40- keep waiting for at some point it to say ahh! Were just kidding this is a joke now here is some real advice and writing. Nope, I skipped around and then seriously just layed there like wtf, why did we waste paper in America to publish this piece of S***. Then I try to look up reviews from other people seeing what they think. Yes I found many responses of girls saying this is horrible and feeling it was just taken too far. I also found this from a blogger who said, " I feel I was a little old for the material and this would better suite a high school girl!" HOLD UP!!!! If I had a high school daughter this is the last thing I would ever want her to read. As if bullying and the internet has not made kids life hard enough trying to fit in and be "COOL"? This book was cruel- calling girls too fat, too poor, go ask your daddy for loads of money, dont work too hard- it looks bad, don't eat and basically saying cocaine is okay but dont form a habit.
I consider myself a pretty laid back down to earth person and not up tight but respect I am big on. The things they talked about trying to be funny are issues people deal with and die from. Drug problems, eating disorders, image, and bullying. Why would any person want to create a book that is demeaning and hurtful to people who may suffer from any of these topics. No one should waste their time reading a bunch of stuff that basically says nothing at all just informs you on how to be a horrible stereotypical rich girl. SO unless you are going for that look which is so done with then maybe you will find the humor amusing. But for girls that are actually NICE girls( I am one of them and would never want to be a "BETCH" ) you would probably just think oh great here is more evidence of our declining creativeness, respect and intelligence in society. SO I suggest this!:
HOW TO BE A HEPBURN IN A HILTON WORLD
I read this book in my junior year of high school and absolutely adored it! This book addresses the same categories as Betches book but actually provides advice. It is smart and helpful. This book - totally worth the money and time spent reading it is called:
" How to Be a Hepburn in a Hilton World". By Jordan Christy
I would suggest this to any younger girl or women in their 20's. Because, it addresses things like fashion, manners, hosting skills and friend advice. Young teens and women as we grow look for guidance and advice when we are in that in between stage. We like to read about others who have dealt with similar situations in life and know that we are not the only girl in the world who feels like a straight mess and confused about everything. This book will keep you interested and change your ways for the better! It does not tell you to be prissy or nothing crazy because I would never suggest a thing like that! But to simply be a respected, charming, young lady who knows how to complimentary dress herself and have a conversation with smart language. I think so many people feel that the media and carefreeness in the world has been taken to a whole new level but since "everyone" is doing it why say anything or be another way. It is so important to be truly you and stick to the things in life that you find important and not follow the image because that is what you see on social media-be an individual- you will gain so much more respect and truly be happy!
Love you all - let me know what you think!
